News 93 – 26.03.2022 Raigam Tele’es Twin celebration- 2020/2021

The Raigam Tele’es proudly presented the Twin celebration of the years 2020 & 2021 at Shangrila Hotel, Colombo on 26th March 2022. Celebrating the 17th consecutive ceremony, 108 awards were presented including the newly introduced category “Janagatha Awards”. The event was graced by the nominees and pioneers of the television industry along with well-known academics in the country. The senior veteran artists Dr. Ravindra Randeniya and Mrs. Sriyani Amarasena were the chief guests of the night.
The night was full of intrigue and glamour with the flamboyant performances on stage. The event was choreographed by Mr. Chandana Wickramasinghe. While Mrs. Suvineetha Weerasinghe was appreciated with lifetime achievement – Prathibha Prabha award, veteran sports commentator Mr. Premasara Epasinghe and veteran teledrama director Dr. K. B. Herath were appreciated with Pranama Awards. The Tribute acts performed for deceased legends Sunil Perera and Lakshman Wijesekera were emphasized.
Successively for the second time too, Shalani Tharaka was crowned as ‘’The Most Popular Actress’’ and Kusal Maduranga was awarded as ‘’The Most Popular Actor’’. ‘’The Best Teledrama Channel’’ for the years 2020 and 2021 was awarded to ITN and ‘’The Channel of the Year’’ award was also achieved by ITN. ‘’The Best Media Excellence Channel’’ for 2020 was awarded to Rupawahiniya and ‘’The Best Media Excellence Channel’’ for 2021 was achieved by Sirasa TV and Derana TV.
The event marked the end with a pleasant night gathering along with a cocktail function.
